2007 Update
The 7th Annual Steve O’Brien Memorial Picnic & Golf Tournament was another success! We managed to raise $2000 which we donated to M.E.E.K. (Maplewood Edgerton Emergency Kupboard), which is the food pantry for the Tenth Ward.
Past recipients of donations include: M.E.E.K., Open Door Mission, Rochester Chapter of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and Camp good Days and Special Times.
2006 Update
The 6th Annual Steve O’Brien Memorial Picnic & Golf Tournament was another success! Even though we had it on a different weekend, and the weather was a little iffy, everyone had a great time! Despite all the setbacks, we managed to raise $1500 which we donated to M.E.E.K.
Who We Are
The Steve O’Brien Memorial is a group of family and friends of Steve O’Brien who decided to have a get together a year after his sudden passing and celebrate his life as well as his effect on us. We played golf, had a picnic, and raised $2000 our first year. Since then we have held a picnic and golf tournament every year and we give the proceeds to local charities. We couldn’t do it without the help of Steve’s friends, family, as well as some great local sponsors who make everything possible.
Steve O’Brien
Steve O’Brien was my brother, and he passed away suddenly on July 4, 2000. A good friend of Steve’s wrote about Steve’s life and sent it into the local paper. As soon as I figure out how to upload it, I will!

Today is the day. The Democrats have waited 12 years for this day. They have railed against many Republican ideas and issues, but rarely offered alternatives. November’s elections were more anti-Bush and anti-GOP then pro-Dems. Nancy Pelosi has talked about reform, change, and new solutions. Now is their chance. They have talked the talk. At noon today, they will have their chance to walk the walk.

For only the fifth time in thirteen seasons, the Rochester Knighthawks start the season on the road, versus the defending champ Colorado Mammoth. If you have VERSUS cable channel, it’s their game of the week. You can also check out the game on the internet at B2 Networks. My brother and I have had season tickets from the start. Indoor lacrosse is a great time. Check it out in a city near you!
GO KNIGHTHAWKS!!!

Saddam Hussein, former ally, later enemy of US, is reportedly dead. The strange part will be that within hours or perhaps days, youtube will likely have the video. What I found surreal was how CNN kept jumping to commercials as it was all going down. It just proves that it comes down to the dollar before the actual news. The money they spend on graphics and flashy intros, just ridiculous. Another chapter has closed in the history of Iraq, but it will be years before we realize the true implications. At least it was the Iraqis that handled the execution, and not us. We can only hope it will bring our troops home sooner.
